Church staff include the Ministry personnel covenanted with the Congregation, the Secretary, Director of Music, Custodian, Accountant and Sunday supervisor.
The general rules for the engagement of church staff and the procedure to be followed in filling approved positions are:
The search, selection and engagement of member of the Order of Ministry will be conducted in accordance with the procedures contained in the United Church Manual.
The requirement for other staff to fill approved positions, with appropriate job descriptions prepared by the Ministry & Personnel Committee, will be brought before Council, which will establish an ad-hoc committee for the purpose of locating candidates and recommending to Council the appointment of a suitable candidate. The ad-hoc committee will have at least three members, one of whom shall be a member of the Ministry & Personnel Committee.
The procedure for accepting resignations or dismissals of church staff is:
The dismissal of members of the Order of Ministry will be conducted in accordance with the procedures contained in the United Church Manual.
Dismissal of all other church staff will be referred to an ad-hoc committee appointed by Council, which will include a member of the Ministry & Personnel Committee and at least two other members. This ad-hoc Committee will review the dismissal recommendation in confidence and ensure that dismissal is warranted. Having satisfied itself that dismissal is in order, the ad-hoc committee has the authority to make a decision and report on the review and decision to Council. Working documents and records of decision of the ad-hoc committee are considered confidential and will be turned over to the Chair, Ministry & Personnel Committee when the ad-hoc committee has completed its work.
Resignations of church staff will be reviewed by the Ministry & Personnel Committee and reported to the Council.
