O God of love and forgiveness,
we admit to you that we have failed
to be the men and women you meant us to be.
We are sorry for our failure,
which has hurt us as well as others,
and we resolve to put right what can be put right.
Save us from being haunted by our mistakes.
Release us from their burden,
so that we can step into the future unafraid,
knowing that even if we fail,
failure does not put us out of reach of your help.
We give you thanks and praise
for the inspiration and the power to begin again
through Jesus Christ who strengthens us. Amen.
