Children and Youth Program Development Assistant
(Part-time - 10 hours a week)
Woodroffe United Church, Ottawa

Woodroffe United Church is seeking the services of an assistant for its Church School and Youth Program, to help create a fun and dynamic learning environment. Accountable to the Minister and the Christian Education Committee. The assistant is tasked with providing support to the Church School Coordinator and the Youth Group Leaders in the administration, development and promotion of these programs.

This position requires the assistant to work at Woodroffe United Church on most Sundays between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The assistant will also need to work occasional evening and weekend hours. Flexibility in hours worked throughout the week will be dependent on program needs.

Office area with telephone provided.

The position is up to 10 hours a week beginning September 1, 2010, with an end date of June 15, 2011. The salary will be in the $11-15 per hour range, depending on experience. The successful candidate must have a police records check.

Candidates should have:
• strong interpersonal skills
• the ability to engage people of all ages, especially youth
• experience working with volunteers in the organization of program activities
• the ability to work in collaboration with others

Familiarity with the traditions and values of the United Church of Canada is a must.
